1) Weather-Related Deaths Are Down More than 90% Over the Past Century
We’re crashing into the January winter storm season, with blizzard conditions in some parts of the country – including the northeast and mountain states. Baby, it’s cold outside.

We thought now would be a good time to review how many people die from extreme weather events.

The answer: fewer than at any time in world history – as a share of the population.

If we are going to die from climate change, when exactly? The climate is changing, but the impact on health and safety has been nearly nonexistent. The slight warming over recent decades has been a positive climate change, because far more people die from colder weather and there is more food production when the weather warms.

One of the most important safeguards against extreme weather conditions is reliable electric power. When the electric grid goes down, people die during blizzards and heat waves. However, the climate change movement is intent on making the electric grid system more vulnerable to blackouts and brownouts. Every time the left shuts down a nuclear, gas, or coal plant we put American lives at greater risk.

The Heartland Institute reports that the mortality data show the global climate-related death risk has dropped by over 99% since 1920. Below is an update of a graph from the 2020 peer-reviewed article by Bjørn Lomborg: Welfare in the 21st century: Increasing development, reducing inequality, the impact of climate change, and the cost of climate policies.

We’d bet a suitcase full of Hunter Biden’s cash that if you asked the average high school student about deaths from extreme weather they would almost all say that this curve bends in the opposite direction.

2) One Million Government Workers Have Left Unions
It’s been five years since the Supreme Court ruled in Janus v. AFSCME that all state, local, and federal government employees have a right not to pay dues to a labor union. Unions have tried their best to violate the ruling, but the Mackinac Center in Michigan reports more than one in five government workers have exercised their right to resign fully from their unions since Janus.

That means over 1.2 million government workers have resigned or declined membership – keeping nearly $1,000 per person in union dues from being spent on politics.

The Freedom Foundation also tells us that last year, four states – Arkansas, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky – stopped allowing governments to deduct from paychecks dues on behalf of public-sector unions, forcing them to do their own billing.

The union bosses keep crowing that union power is on the rise, but it isn’t despite highly publicized union organizing efforts at companies like Starbucks and even the New York Times. Even a recent headline from the USA Today conceded:

We will answer that question. More Americans have the right to choose whether they want to join a union. And more are saying “no thanks.”

3) Why Blacks Are Inching Toward the GOP
Rep. James Clyburn, the Democrat whose endorsement of Joe Biden delivered the Democratic nomination to him in the key South Carolina primary, admitted to CNN he is “very concerned” about Biden’s standing with Black voters. “People keep focusing on the one or two things he did not get accomplished,” he mourned.

Of course, Clyburn is ignoring the fact that many African Americans are more moderate than the progressive base that Biden caters to. Polls show that blacks favor stricter border controls, prioritize fossil-fuel production over Biden’s Green New Deal, and want to fight crime more vigorously. They are also about the least supportive voter group of the radical LGBTQ agenda of the modern Democrats.

So Biden is resorting to shameless race-baiting tactics. Speaking to the Mother Emanuel AME Church, Biden claimed that housing prices in America are based on race. “Today, a home owned by a black family on one side of a highway, built by the same builder on the other side of the highway, and a white guy living in it, the white guy’s home is valued more than the black guy’s! …That’s how you build generational wealth!”

It’s preposterous to suggest that Zillow uses racial characteristics as the basis for determining a home’s value. And the days of redlining are long gone.

We think the reason why Biden is struggling with his black voter base is mostly pocketbook issues. As the chart below shows, blacks made big improvements under Trump and have slid back down under Biden and his epidemic of inflation. The poverty rate for blacks hit an all-time low under Trump:

4) How Do Nations Get Rich?
The latest Kite and Key video looks at the benefits of economic freedom and why "some countries become fabulously wealthy while others remain trapped in poverty. Prosperity can happen anywhere … with the right ingredients." Spoiler alert: free market capitalism is the best path to prosperity.

5) Fauci Can't Remember a Thing
Anthony Fauci reportedly told Congressional investigators some variation of "I do not recall" over 100 times in a transcribed interview this week – the same tactic he used when he was deposed in the Missouri v. Biden censorship litigation.

Most remarkably, he is still "not convinced" that the school closures he demanded resulted in learning loss:
