John,

This National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, I’m incredibly grateful for your commitment to survivors and the anti-trafficking movement.

Over the last year, our community has shown up. You’ve compelled Congress to listen to survivors. You’ve shared our research and trainings with your networks. And you’ve helped sustain critical Polaris programs like the National Human Trafficking Hotline. We couldn’t have done it without you.

But we know there’s much more to do to ensure that survivors can become thrivers. And there’s still a long way to go to stop trafficking from happening in the first place.

So how can you continue to raise awareness? Here are a few resources — developed in partnership with survivors — that you can share:

  • Media Guide: If you create, curate, or share content about trafficking, check out this guide to learn how the language and imagery you use can shape public perception about trafficking and who experiences it.

As the new board chair, I’m excited to serve Polaris and to walk with survivors in advancing the anti-trafficking movement. And I’m glad to be part of the movement with you. Thank you for helping us spread the word — this month and onward!

With gratitude,
Jean Gilbert, Polaris
