Friends, we need to talk about democracy.
Nearly 250 years ago, our country was founded on a set of democratic ideals, with the North Star of true equality to work towards. Over time, those democratic ideals have been tested — and time and time again, they have held strong as we’ve fought to achieve a more perfect Union.
But in the past several years, our democracy has seen unprecedented stress tests — driven by a combination of power-hungry right-wing politicians and a disease of bystanderism that has allowed bad faith actions to prevail.
From the violent insurrection at the Capitol three years ago to the continuous assaults on voting rights in GOP legislatures across the country, it has become clear that we are in an existential fight for democracy.
If you know me, you know I am an optimist. I truly believe that the vast majority of Americans believe in our founding ideals, trust in the democratic system, and want to preserve free and fair elections.
But we’re facing extraordinary circumstances that require each and every one of us to commit to this fight — not stand by idly and hope it all turns out well.
What we do in 2024 will have a lasting impact on our nation. We can either band together and speak up against the forces that seek to tear down democracy, or we can stand by and let them win.

My Republican opponents are MAGA election deniers who try to justify those who attacked our democracy on January 6th. Your support will go directly towards defeating them, sending me back to the Senate, and holding our Democratic majority — something we absolutely must do if we have any hope of securing democracy for generations to come.
