Touring Shady Lane School daycare center on Jan. 10, the new Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato said the region is facing an “urgent crisis” in child care.

Then, as one of her first big acts in office, she allocated $500,000 to a pilot program for subsidizing child care.
