With 2024 now in full swing, allow me to reach out to you with a few announcements from your local Green Party. The year will bring several key electoral contests. Here in London we are working hard to extend Green representation in the Assembly and Zoe Garbett is providing a progressive alternative for London Mayor. We have Action Days coming up to get the word out.
Help get Greens elected in Pimlico
We will be out spreading the word for the London election campaign on the 20th of January with Action Days in Notting Hill and Pimlico. Please do join us by signing up for these.
Help get Greens elected in Notting Hill
We will also see a General Election this year, possibly in October, maybe as early as May. This is why we are in the process of selecting our candidates for the new constituencies, with elections and hustings taking place jointly with some of our neighbouring local Green Parties.
Please be invited to join the upcoming hustings for the Queen's Park and Maida Vale constituency Green Party candidate on Monday 15th Jan 8pm, jointly between Brent and WCL Green Parties.
We also recently received a nomination for the new Hammersmith and Chiswick constituency, where a joint hustings will be held with Hounslow Green Party on the 22nd Jan at 8pm.
The hustings are open to all. Please register via the links provided above. They are a great opportunity to
meet our future candidates and fellow local party activitists, and to discuss national politics.
Voting for the Green candidate in both joint constituencies is open to all members living in these. The vote is held online via OpaVote and members eligible to vote should have received an invite to take part in these elections. Please email our Electoral Returning Officer James Hewitt with any questions about the process.
Our next local members meeting is to take place on the 5th of February 2024, 7pm in our usual spot in Coffee Plant on Portobello Rd (online participation is also possible). At this meeting we will hear from Cllr Mona Adam, our new councillor in Kensington and Chelsea, and have the chance to discuss politics with her. I will send a seperate invite for this meeting in due course.
