It’s barely the start of the new year, and another school shooting traumatized a community. Enough is enough.
Last week – only four days into the year – as students and teachers in Perry, Iowa went back to class after winter break, a senseless act of gun violence left one sixth grader dead and five others wounded. And this wasn’t even the first mass shooting of 2024.
How many more must we lose before Congress finally takes action? To end the epidemic of gun violence we must have the courage to act. Will you join me and add your name to my petition demanding Congress reinstate the federal assault weapons ban?
To build a future where all are safe to thrive, we must pass common sense gun safety legislation. Our children and teachers should go to school without fear. It’s time for Congress to act, and I’m ready to go to Washington and make sure it gets done.
