Hi John.

I hope the new year is off to a great start for you and your family!

Reflecting on 2023, our community saw challenges and successes — but throughout the year, I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to make a real impact on folks’ lives.

Today, I wanted to share with you the progress my office made in 2023. That includes passing critical bipartisan legislation and connecting directly with our community. And as always, I’d love to learn more about your concerns so I can do a better job of serving you this year >>

What are your priorities for 2024? Please click here to take my quick survey to share your thoughts.

I’m here to serve every person and corner of our community, regardless of party. Everyone deserves a government that works for them.

Staying Connected:

  • In 2023, my team and I responded to more than 124,000 messages — communicating with an average of 340 Kansans each day.
  • I also led 9 public conversations — from telephone town halls to Facebook Lives with more than 146,500 constituents — and hosted 214 constituent meetings to listen to the priorities of Kansans.
Solving Problems:
  • My office helped more than 1,650 hardworking Kansans who were having issues with federal agencies. That’s everything from passports, to delayed veterans’ benefits, to Social Security issues, and more. This is in part thanks to the 89 Pop Up Offices we hosted in all corners of Kansas’ Third District, from Kansas City to Osawatomie.
  • We also returned $5.4 million to local taxpayers and businesses in overdue tax refunds, Social Security savings, and more. Since being sworn in, my office has helped return more than $17 million to folks in our community.

People need solutions to the challenges they face, not more partisanship.

Getting Bipartisan Results:

  • In 2023, I co-sponsored 236 pieces of legislation, 72 percent of which are bipartisan. I also introduced 8 original pieces of legislation. One of those bills passed the House to support veteran small business owners.

  • worked 5 “Sharice’s Shifts” alongside local workers to learn from them and highlight the impact of new laws, including the bipartisan infrastructure law. I also supported legislation that led to the creation of 20,000 new clean energy jobs and the KC area being named one of 31 Regional Tech Hubs to boost domestic manufacturing and improve local supply chains.

I can't represent our district from behind a desk in Washington, D.C. That's why I love my Sharice's Shift program to learn more about your concerns. That includes shadowing employees at the Price Chopper in Roeland Park and chatting with folks about how we can bring down the cost of groceries.

Focusing on the Third:

  • I made 11 stops on a Farm Bill Listening Tour to listen directly to Kansas’ farmers, ranchers, and producers. These visits have helped me prepare for the 2023 Farm Bill consideration process.

  • I secured investments for 15 community projects to improve health and safety in the Third District. That includes clean drinking water in Olathe and new police training vehicles for Johnson County Community College. It also includes reconstruction of the structurally deficient Kansas Avenue Bridge that connects Kansas to Missouri.

My focus is on concrete and bipartisan solutions to build a better future – with more jobs and lower prices.

The future is bright for our community, but it won’t come without its challenges. But whatever is in store for us, I am always here for you.

If you need any help with the federal government, please know that we just scheduled a new slate of Pop Up Office Hours this month to help folks across our community. This is a chance to get individualized assistance in your own neighborhood on everything from Social Security issues, to veterans’ benefits, to tax refunds, and more.

Please click here to see our January schedule of Pop Ups. We’re holding a Pop up on Thursday in Garnett and in Ottawa on Monday.
