I hope you and your family had a happy holiday season.

As Congress returns to DC this week, I wanted to share a look at some of the work I did on behalf of Illinois’ 11th Congressional District in 2023.

ImageAfter the redistricting process, the new 11th District spans across eight different counties. As I always say, if you drive 45 minutes from O’Hare in any direction, you’ll end up somewhere in our district…or Lake Michigan.
 
I spent much of last year traveling around the district, talking with constituents and learning about their priorities. I attended 329 meetings and events, including 32 events and nine town halls hosted by my office on topics ranging from the climate crisis to the opioid epidemic, immigration, and more.

Making sure my constituents receive effective and efficient services from my office has been my priority ever since I began serving them in Congress. Chief among those services is assisting constituents who are owed money by federal agencies like the IRS, VA, and the Social Security Administration. In 2023, my office returned $874,362 to constituents and resolved 531 cases.

Legislation and Committee Work

In 2023, I introduced 20 bills and cosponsored 137 bills. On the House Financial Services Committee and as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy, I remained an advocate for expanding opportunity for all Americans and building back a financial system that works for everyone. In total, I attended 45 hearings and bill markups.
