John,
It was 13 years ago this week that Gabby Giffords was shot and nearly killed while meeting with constituents at a grocery store in Tucson, Arizona.
This anniversary is a call to action for the common sense gun reform we urgently need.

After the shooting, Gabby founded an organization dedicated to ending gun violence. Her advocacy and recovery have inspired me and so many others.
We’ve collaborated on this issue for many years, including bringing the L.A. Gun Violence Memorial to Exposition Park — 3,400 white flowers, each representing a Californian killed by gun violence the previous year (pictured above).
Meanwhile, in Congress, Republicans are blocking all gun violence prevention. Some have even worn AR-15 pins on the House floor to show their allegiance to the gun lobby.

We need a majority of gun violence prevention champions.
We need a majority ready to take on the NRA and the gun lobbyists.
I’ve beat the NRA here in California to get guns out of the hands of domestic abusers. I’ll bring that experience and energy to Congress, where we’ll pass the gun reform that Gabby and other advocates have been fighting for.
We have less than a month before Californians start voting — can you chip in $25 or any amount to help us win this critical primary election?
