With just 10 months to go before the election, Donald Trump is leading Joe Biden by 8 points in the state of Michigan, according to a new poll from The Detroit News and WDIV-TV. Take a look:

Joe Biden: 39%
Donald Trump: 47%

Polls this far out from the election should, of course, be taken with a healthy grain of salt. They are, at best, a snapshot in time. But at this point, we’ve seen a few public polls released on the presidential race here in Michigan, and there are some big takeaways:

The road to the White House—and ultimately, control of the Senate—WILL run through Michigan. As Michigan goes, so goes the nation.
It’s going to be close. That’s just a fact about presidential elections in Michigan. In 2016, Donald Trump won the state by 10,704 votes and then in 2020, Joe Biden won by 154,458 (less than 3%).
We have A LOT of work to do to talk to voters over the next 10 months.
There’s a reason we call states like Michigan “swing states.” After all of our success in recent elections, Republicans believe it’s due for a swing in their direction, and they're planning to spend the money to prove it. After all, what happens when you’re in a swing state? You swing.

That’s why we’re so focused on ensuring our campaign has the resources to introduce Elissa to the ten million people in Michigan and talk to voters as early as possible—the folks who will decide our race, and potentially control of the White House. 2024 is here, and we’re ramping up our operation right now – which means your support at this moment is more important than ever.

The very best time to donate was yesterday, but the second best time is right now. Will you chip in to ensure we have the resources to keep Michigan blue?
