  • Chaos in RINO World Over CD5 Race

The establishment faction of the Colorado Republican Party is in total disarray following Rep. Doug Lamborn’s shock decision to not seek reelection. A plethora of RINO candidates are scrambling to undercut each other and are fracturing the party as they fight to secure the blessing of the big donors.

The grassroots meanwhile appear to be strongly united behind Dave Williams, the current CO GOP Chair who announced he is running for CD5. And that is freaking out the UniParty.

Since Williams’ announcement Monday, the media in Anschutz world have been declaring it is “unethical” for Williams to stay on as CO GOP Chair while running for CD5. They had no issue with establishment favorite Rep. Ken Buck doing the same thing a few short years ago. The Anschutz controlled Denver Gazette asserts that RINO candidates have “little chance if Williams directs the power of the State’s GOP to elect himself.” Previously the same Gazette claimed the State GOP under Williams is nearly bankrupt and powerless. Williams can’t be powerless and all powerful at the same time.

Megan Schrader, editorial page editor for the left-wing Denver Post (remember she’s the one who fired Jon Caldara from the Post for insisting there are only two sexes) asserted the Colorado Republican Party is in “complete disarray” over Williams’ decision.

Don’t be fooled. The real chaos is among the RINOs. We have Sen. Paul Lundeen, Minority Leader who wants to enter the CD5 race, considering misusing Senate Majority Fund money to clear the RINO portion of the field. Sources tell us he’s ready to offer Senate Majority Fund cash to help Stan VanderWerf in SD12 if VanderWerf stays out of the CD5 race.

You’ve got Sen. Bob Gardner officially in and Rep. Rose Pugliese out.
Still in the potential mix along with Lundeen, former Secretary of State Wayne Williams, radio host Jeff Crank, Eli Bremmer, and Dan Norberg to name a few.

They are all speed dialing for dollars from big donors like Phil Anschutz and Chris Jenkins, the developer king of El Paso County. But so far it looks like the donors are sitting on the sidelines to see which RINO emerges from the cage fight. By the way, any establishment candidate is going to need all the cash they can get. Dave Williams will likely dominate with the grassroots vote at the State Assembly and get on the ballot. The establishment candidates may not even show up and will have to use the expensive, pay to play petition route.
