CHBA BC
Further to our announcement last week on the steps we are taking to ensure a safe workplace for staff, effective immediately, CHBA BC will be temporarily closing its office in Burnaby and will move to staff working remotely. We do, however, remain fully operational and are well equipped with remote technology and videoconferencing capability.
You can find our full news release and staff contact information here.
CHBA BC
The Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC (CHBA BC) has been carefully monitoring the evolving impact of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). As a valued CHBA BC learner, your safety always has been, and remains, a high priority for us. Our education programs will remain open but will operate on a limited basis. As a voluntary and precautionary measure in response to COVID-19, some classes may be cancelled. Students impacted by these changes will be contacted directly by the Education Department for next steps.
CHBA BC is actively exploring ways to transition to fully distance/online learning. Currently, the majority of our courses are offered via blended delivery, with a self-study portion, an online portion and an in-class session during which students write a final exam. Realistically, this means that most learning is already done independently of others.
However, in order to increase social distancing, we are working to transition in-class sessions to video/webinar-style delivery wherever possible and reasonable. Students would also be able to write final exams online, proctored remotely, in the comfort of their own home or workplace.

BCREA
The latest BCREA Market Intelligence Report: Sketching Out the Potential Impact of COVID-19 on the BC Housing Market explores the potential impacts of COVID-19 on BC home sales and prices through 2020. Click here to read the full report.
Summary Findings:
While it’s unknown how the unfolding COVID-19 outbreak will impact the economy in the long-term, BC is facing a sudden stop in economic activity with little guidance to when things may return to normal.
Based on our scenario analysis, BC home sales and prices will likely face declines in the spring and early summer but should recover along with the wider economy in the second half of the year, contingent on the outbreak resolving.
The postponed change to the mortgage stress test rate, originally slated for April 6, 2020, will mute the impact of falling interest rates for the BC housing market.
