I hate these fundraising emails too, but please let me explain why this one's important first:

Gerry and I have been so focused on getting out the vote for good Democrats across the district in last Tuesday's primary that we haven't been able to focus on our own grassroots fundraising for the month -- and that's a problem.

Our big quarterly filing deadline will be here at the end of the month, but we're still $7,358 shy of our goal. Look, we can't keep pouring time and resources into other folks' races if we're not hitting our own benchmarks, too.

So, here goes: Can Gerry count on you to rush a quick $5 donation to help us close the gap? If everyone who opened this email chips in, we'll be well on our way to reaching that goal.
