Last week, twice-impeached, criminally-indicted former president Donald Trump sat down for an interview with a right-wing news outlet, previewing how he plans to campaign if he wins the GOP nomination for President later this year — and he had some strong words for New Jersey:
“I believe we have a chance to win New Jersey … I’m going to make a heavy play for New Jersey … I’m going to do rallies. I’m going to do speeches. I’m going to work them. ”
The same president who fanned the flames of division, undermined our democracy, and disgraced his office as president is already committing to spending resources in New Jersey. If Donald Trump thinks he can make a play in New Jersey, well, I say bring it on.
We knew that winning this election and supporting Democrats across New Jersey this November would require grit and a lot of hard work. But now we have to work twice as hard to respond to the lies and attacks he’s going to throw Democrats’ way while he holds his extremist rallies.
