Tonight, Fox News is counter-programming the final GOP debate before the Iowa Caucus with an exclusive town hall starring (you guessed it!) Donald J. Trump.

Skipping the debates may be a shrewd political move. After all, Trump’s lead over his Republican rivals has only grown in recent months.

But shrewd politics aren't always good for democracy. By refusing to debate, Trump is ignoring yet another important democratic norm. And troublingly, he’s telegraphing exactly the dictator President he’s promising to be on the campaign trail.

John, by giving Donald Trump an infomercial just five days before the Iowa Caucus, Fox News is putting all its cards on the table. They will do and say anything to ensure ratings stay high and Trump becomes President again.
