Dear John,

Yesterday, the Vermont Future Caucus kicked off their legislative session in a big way . . . and it got the whole state talking.

At the top of their agenda is criminal justice reform, housing affordability, and attracting and retaining young Vermonters.

As Vermont Future Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Mary-Katherine Stone stated: "Representation is not only needed, but it matters. I hope when the public sees that this Vermont Future Caucus not only exists, but that we’re strong and effective, it inspires more young people to run for office."

The collaboration on display was a breath of fresh air and received press coverage by every major news outlet in the state yesterday. Read more about yesterday's events from VTDigger, Vermont Public, WCAX3, and NBC5.

We invited a veteran statehouse reporter to shadow the caucus for the day. A bipartisan policy workshop over dumplings at lunch left her with the impression that there was something special in the way this group of leaders approached problem solving.

In her words, “smells like Gen Z spirit.”

Our nationwide On the Rise tour is just getting started. Stay tuned!
