Yesterday, the NYIC, 150 local NY advocates and impacted people, member groups and national organizations, united in Washington D.C. to rally for one very important cause: to demand Senate Democrats and the Biden Administration reject extremist anti-immigrant proposals in exchange for short-term foreign aid in the supplemental budget.

President Biden and his Administration have made it clear they are willing to negotiate on these terms and essentially gut asylum–we made it clear these are NOT negotiable terms.

If you were not able to join us, you are able to make your voice heard too! Email and urge President Biden, Sen. Schumer and Sen. Gillibrand to not concede to this extremist agenda! ([link removed])

Throughout history, our country has been a place of refuge for people fleeing persecution, violence, and war around the world. Now, Congressional Republicans are ready to make changes that would essentially eliminate the fundamental principle of seeking asylum–and they will not settle for anything less ([link removed]) .

These changes would terrorize members of our own communities, by significantly limiting and and restricting parole, separating and incarcerating families at the border, and jump-starting a fast-track deportation program, amongst other inhumane practices.

We must continue to fight for the rights of immigrants and asylum seekers seeking safety and opportunity. Without your support, we would not be where we are today. Continue to show your support by demanding the Biden Administration must reject these Trump-era policies! ([link removed])
