Folks,

While the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread, so many of us are facing difficulties and hardships, especially low-income communities.

This virus is a public health crisis, but also an economic crisis for millions of families across the country. Low-income workers are without pay. Students are without lunch. Families are without basic necessities like food, soap, and even toilet paper.

Yesterday, Alameda County ordered residents to “shelter in place,” meaning they can’t leave their homes for non-essential business. Click here to find more resources regarding the Bay Area’s “shelter in place” rules. [[link removed]]

While social distancing is vital to stopping the spread of this virus, it is no doubt taking a toll on families everywhere.

That’s why we must come together to help those most in need. It’s on us to take care of those around us -- including our neighbors, friends, family, and loved ones.

I’m working hard in Congress to expand unemployment assistance, paid sick leave, and other benefits that Americans deserve during these troubling times. In the meantime, there are a lot of food banks that could really use your help right now.

That’s why I’m asking if you’ll join me in supporting the Alameda County Food Bank by making a donation of whatever you can afford (if you can afford it) to help those struggling during this crisis.

DONATE: [link removed]

I know this is a hard time for so many families, so please only give if you can afford to do so.

In solidarity,

Barbara Lee
