Biden slams Trump for "revealing twisted true colors" after Donald says he hopes economy crashes in 2024
The disgraced ex-president proved once again that there is no bottom when it comes to his selfishness and his callous disregard for the wellbeing of the American people. In an interview with Lou Dobbs (yep, still around!), Trump claimed he "hopes the economy crashes soon" because...he doesn't want to have to deal with it when he's in the White House. "I just don't want to be Herbert Hoover," complained Trump. The Biden White House quickly fired back, declaring that "Republican officials should welcome the economic progress President Biden is delivering, instead of revealing twisted true colors that would shrink the American middle class in the name of their own cynical self-interests." It's hard to tell whether it's more appalling that Trump said it or more surprising that he apparently knows who Herbert Hoover is. [RETWEET THAT!]

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Judges destroy Trump in court with one devastating question
The serially indicted grifter's lawyer goons found themselves backed into a corner — and tried to argue that Trump would be allowed to use Seal Team Six to assassinate his political rivals...which we're sure is going to leave QUITE the impression on the judges currently deciding whether or not his presidential immunity protects him from the consequences of his actions.

GOP push to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas gains steam
The House GOP is in need of new scalps now that their efforts to find evidence against President Biden have predictably gone nowhere, and they appear to have settled on Secretary Mayorkas as the next target for a witch-hunt. Since they don't have any legislative accomplishments to point to, or any beneficial policy ideas to offer voters, or really anything except spite, racism, and fearmongering, the GOP has decided that "the border" is going to be their Big Thing for the 2024 election, and members are signaling they're very willing to impeach Mayorkas because of "the border." DHS responded by saying that "the House majority is wasting valuable time and taxpayer dollars pursuing a baseless political exercise that has been rejected by members of both parties and already failed on a bipartisan vote."

Moderate(ly less radical) Republicans warn hardliners against booting Speaker Johnson
The House GOP clown caucus (apologies to actual clowns) hasn't seemed to grasp that every time they kick the government funding can down the road, they're going to have to have the same fight all over again in just a few weeks. Well, it's been a few weeks and — you'll NEVER see this coming — the cartoonishly radical right wing of the MAGA party is furious at far-right-yet-somehow-not-quite-far-right-enough Speaker Johnson for agreeing to a government funding deal similar to the one they threw a shitfit over last year, prompting Rep. Chip Roy to publicly dangle the idea of yet another embarrassing speakership fight. "If they try it, they are f*cking idiots," Rep. Mike Lawler told Semafor. Yes, yes they are.

Several men arrested after dispute over secret tunnel in Brooklyn synagogue
In one of the most bizarre stories you'll read all year, a minor riot broke out at the Chabad-Lubavitch world headquarters in Brooklyn, New York, after the city tried to fill in a secret and very illegal tunnel that a group of extremely enthusiastic Hasidic students had dug through the basements of vacant buildings into the synagogue for reasons that as yet remain unclear. The students took serious issue with the city's attempts to close the tunnels and conduct a structural safety review, leading to several arrests. Videos on social media appear to indicate that the tunnels are quite extensive and one even showed a young man exiting the tunnels through a storm grate.
Defense Secretary Austin diagnosed with cancer, didn't tell Biden for weeks
Yeah........proooooooobably should have mentioned that, sir. Feels like an important thing for the frickin' president to know.

Analysis shows New York Times, other major newspapers heavily biased their coverage towards Israel
An analysis of over 1,000 articles showed major US newspapers and cable news disproportionately emphasized Israeli deaths in the conflict that has killed 22,000 Palestinians; used emotive language to describe the killings of Israelis, but not Palestinians; and offered lopsided coverage of antisemitic acts in the US, while largely ignoring anti-Muslim racism in the wake of the Hamas terror attacks on October 7. We cannot lose sight of the fact that there are humans suffering greatly on BOTH sides of the conflict, and we deserve to have news coverage that recognizes that — especially since American bombs and taxpayer dollars are helping fuel the fighting.
Media now in Harvard megadonor Bill Ackman’s sights after wife embroiled in plagiarism row
Billionaire hedge-fund bozo Bill Ackman was an outspoken cheerleader in the smear campaign against ex-Harvard President Claudine Gay for dissertation "plagiarism" — which made it rather uncomfortable for him when Business Insider discovered his wife, Neri Oxman, had plagiarized dozens of paragraphs from Wikipedia in her PhD dissertation. Rather than exhibiting any principles or humility, Ackman instead turned his ire on the media, declaring that he would investigate the reporters and staff for reporting on his wife. While there's nothing new about rich jabronis trying to bully the media, it's extremely concerning that Semafor reports that there was going to be an internal review at Business Insider's parent company, and that executives "debated whether Ackman’s wife was fair game for reporting, and have been concerned that the report could be construed as antisemitic and anti-Zionist." Preposterous, and a sharp reminder that America's free press is owned by billionaire bozos and susceptible to sacrificing journalistic integrity if the bottom line is meaningfully threatened.
Trump promotes "totally baseless" birther conspiracy theory against Nikki Haley
It wouldn't be a Trump presidential run without an astonishingly racist birther conspiracy, and once again he's pulled out his old playbook to attack ally-turned-rival Nikki Haley by posting an article claiming that Haley's parents weren't citizens when she was born. Every day is a new low for Donnie!
GOP House Rep. Andy Ogles faces ethics complaint over $1 million of discrepancies in financial disclosures
In a very George Santos-esque scandal, the Tennessee Republican claims he personally loaned $320,0000 to his 2022 campaign for Congress...but his financial disclosure reports do not disclose assets that would allow him to make a loan of this size. Oops!
