Message from Ted

Dear VCC Community,

Happy New Year!

As I reflect on these three words, it strikes me as significant that the
first word is ‘happy’. I have to admit that I’ve struggled to
maintain my happiness these last four years. The amount of fraud,
deception, and callous disregard for our fundamental rights and freedoms
has had an impact on me. And I know it is true for you as well for I see
the sadness in your eyes.

There are good reasons to be sad. I suggest what we are actually
experiencing is grief due to the tremendous losses we’ve experienced. The
loss of family, friendships, trust in government, the medical industry,
rule of law, independent media, medical choice, as well as fundamental
rights and freedoms that we assumed were sacrosanct in this country. There
is merit to the saying that if you aren’t sad, you’re not paying
attention.

That said, by giving in to sadness, we allow them to take away our joy and
happiness. I’m no longer willing to let them take my happiness from me.
In 2024 I’m going to be as committed to my happiness as I am to my
freedom. I will not stop battling those who want to deprive me of life and
liberty, however, I commit to battling happily.

I intend to have my smile be a visible expression of my commitment to
reclaim what has been lost. Let’s make happiness a part of our rebellion.
