Indivisibles,

This past weekend, Indivisible groups across the country held vigils to
mark the third anniversary of the January 6th insurrection and warn
against the ongoing threat of MAGA extremism. In true Indivisible fashion,
each group had a unique take on the event:

[1]GIF of Indivisible groups at January 6th events and vigils.

* Members of H-CAN Indivisible from Haverford, PA hosted a rally and
registered voters in front of the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia.
* Tucson Indivisibles hosted a rally in vulnerable Rep. Ciscomani’s
district to remind voters that “Ciscomani is more worried about
extremists and partisan politics” than his constituents.
* Indivisible Washington's 8th District held a march to the City Hall
and rally “celebration of our democracy as well as the caution never
to forget what happened on January 6.”
* Across the street from the Trump Hotel in Chicago, activists from
Indivisible Chicago Alliance projected messages like “Fight
Authoritarianism,” “Defend Democracy,” and “Remember January 6th.”
* Rep. Andy Kim spoke at multiple rallies hosted by Indivisible groups
in New Jersey and shared his experiences at the Capitol that day.
* In a town of just 700, more than 60 people showed up to Indivisible
Mendocino’s rally and braved the biting seaside wind. This is the
group’s first rally since a 2-year hiatus. They came back together in
December with an IndivisiGather grant and rekindled their spark to
save democracy.

While Indivisibles were planning and holding vigils, we've also seen a
trend amongst pundits and political analysts downplaying the importance of
democracy as an issue in the upcoming election. They claim voters have
already made up their minds on Trump’s extremism and that Biden is better
off ditching democracy as a core issue in his re-election campaign.

We know how huge a mistake that would be. Since 2016, every time Democrats
were able to successfully turn an election into a referendum on MAGA
extremism, they won. This year, we have to do it again, and make sure
voters understand that the threat MAGA extremists pose to our democracy is
stronger than ever.

We’re not talking about some abstract, nebulous idea here -- we’re talking
about the stripping of our abortion rights, book bans, and the specter of
far-right political violence like we saw unleashed on January 6, 2021.
Things people feel personally and care about deeply.

Grassroots organizing will be key to shaping these narratives. At a time
when political coverage and news consumption are heavily polarized and
fractured, our neighbors are looking nearby to understand how regular,
everyday people are thinking about the election. Local events, like the
January 6th vigils, are the first step in defining 2024 as a referendum on
MAGA extremism.

This weekend, Indivisibles held dozens of events and gained impressive
press coverage in local media -- and we're just getting started. From now
until November, we’re going to continue reaching out to voters and making
the stakes of this election clear. Every event, postcard, op-ed, and
conversation helps set a narrative that will lead us to victory this
November.

We know this strategy is effective because we’ve seen it in action over
the past few election cycles, but it takes time and resources to work.

click here to pitch in and fund our grassroots organizing.

All of the resources we provide our local groups -- whether it's our press
team helping local groups get media coverage or our organizers helping
groups hold events and rallies -- are made possible because of grassroots
donors pitching in when they can.

We’ll be back in touch soon with more actions you can take to fight MAGA
extremism. In the meantime, thank you for everything you do to keep this
movement going.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
