Dear John,
NVAHA exists because of the strength of our partnerships and the
collective voices we bring together to advocate for housing affordability in
our region. One of our strongest partnerships, and perhaps the most
powerful voice, is that of the community.
NVAHA 15 -
Accomplishment #5 (2019): On April 30, 2019, NVAHA held the “Hybla
Valley/Gum Springs Community Listening Session,” a community-wide forum
on preservation along the Richmond Highway corridor. The session brought together more than
120 community members including residents, small business owners,
community-based organizations, county staff, and local elected
officials, and was designed to give residents an opportunity to
share their vision for the future of their community. The forum was
organized by a committee of the following partners: Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services, ICNA Virginia Masjid, Fairfax County NAACP, New Hope Housing, South County Task Force, United Community - formerly UCM of Alexandria and Zero Model NOVA. Here is what we learned.
