Hi,

ACTION NEEDED: The final deadline for public comments in support of net neutrality is January 17.

That means these are the final days for us to show the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that the public stands clearly and strongly for a free and open internet.

Verizon, Cox, AT&T and the other corporate giants are pulling out all the stops to lobby against net neutrality reinstatement.1 The only way we can combat their corporate power is with a mass outpouring of support.

Sign the petition: I support the full reinstatement of net neutrality and Title II protections.

The FCC’s current proposed rule is the best chance we’ve had to reinstate net neutrality since the Trump administration destroyed the regulations in 2017.

While telecom lobbyists and their Republican allies want to characterize net neutrality as a “takeover” of the internet,2 the fact is that these protections act to keep broadband free and open for all, and out of the hands of Big Cable. Net neutrality would especially serve rural communities, communities of color, and others who have historically had less access to high-speed internet.3

Net neutrality remains hugely popular across the country. In October, Demand Progress joined with over 30 partner organizations to relaunch Battle for the Net, so people can tell the FCC and Congress why net neutrality is important to them. At the end of the initial comment period in December, over 80,000 activists had filed comments in support.

That’s an incredible start, but now we need to redouble our efforts to counter Big Cable's lies. January 17 is the FCC’s “reply comment” deadline, which means it’s the very last date that we can make our voices heard in support of net neutrality. We must stand up to corporate attacks and show that the people support a free and open internet!

Add your name: The FCC must reinstate net neutrality now!

Thanks for taking action,

Joey and the team at Demand Progress
