Join the global day of action for Gaza: march in London this Saturday, 13 January!

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to deepen with over 22,000 people now killed by Israel's bombardment and ground invasion. Wider tensions continue to escalate, threatening to turn the conflict into a regional one.

But global pressure on Israel to end its war on Gaza continues to grow. On Thursday and Friday, the International Court of Justice will hear a case brought forward by South Africa, accusing Israel of committing genocide against the Palestinians.

Even Britain, one of Israel's backers in its assault on Gaza, is growing more concerned about Israel's conduct. Answering questions from parliament’s foreign affairs committee on Tuesday, UK foreign secretary David Cameron admitted that he is “worried” that Israel is breaching international law in Gaza.

We need to keep the pressure up on the government - to stop supporting this brutal war. Join us on Saturday 13 January in central London to demand a full ceasefire: to end the terrible suffering being inflicted on the people of Gaza.

Lukashenko announces completion of Russian nuclear weapons delivery

Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko ensured that the nuclear risk in 2024 will be higher than in 2023 - after he confirmed that the transfer of Russian nuclear weapons to Belarus has been completed. Speaking from the Russian capital Moscow on Christmas Day, Lukashenko gave little detail on the deployment other than it finished in October.

It's the first time Belarus has had nuclear weapons on its soil in almost 40 years. Calling the deployment “extremely irresponsible,” CND General Secretary Kate Hudson said:

“As with the stationing of US nuclear weapons in Britain, we must oppose the location of nuclear weapons in all third countries and stand with those who are against them. In the year ahead, we must do all we can to promote peace and dialogue and oppose the possession of nuclear weapons by all states.”

CND's No US Nukes campaign to feature in BBC Panorama documentary

Late last year, CND activists joined a BBC Panorama team at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk to discuss our campaign against the return of US nuclear weapons to Britain.

Nuclear Armageddon: How Close Are We? will air on BBC Two on Thursday 18 January at 9:00pm. It explores the global proliferation of nuclear weapons and the dangers they pose in a world of increasing conflict. We encourage everyone to watch it, especially with the latest Doomsday Clock announcement scheduled to be unveiled on Tuesday, 23 January!
