Dear Neighbor,

I am writing to you with exciting and historic news. This past Wednesday at the New York City Council Charter Meeting, I was appointed by Speaker Adrienne E. Adams to be Majority Leader of the New York City Council! My appointment marks the first time in history that a Latina will ever serve in the role and that the top leadership positions of the New York City Council will all be held by women of color.

As Majority Leader, I will remain focused on the issues of the collective democratic ideals of our Speaker, this Council, and working class communities like ours.

Thank you for all your support and engagement with my office throughout my first term. I look forward to all this role will contribute to the betterment of our communities across Council District 18.

In Community,

Hon. Amanda Farías

Council Member, District 18
