News from Rep. Chip Roy

Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

I wanted to pass along my latest update on what I have been doing to fight for you, Texas’ 21st Congressional district, and our country as a whole:

Border Security: It’s Now or Never
Our people – law enforcement, ranchers, local leaders – are tired of border meetings, speeches, and press conferences. We don’t need any more evidence that our border is in utter chaos – we must act with urgency. We must use our Article One constitutional authority to force the President to end his abuse of power that endangers Americans with open borders. All members of Congress – but especially House Republicans – should be on notice: they own it if they fund it. Alone, each of us represents only 1/425th of ½ of Congress. Together, we have the power to force the change we promised to deliver. If we fight, we may or may not deliver everything we need, but we will deliver relief and inspiration. If we choose not to fight, we will be guaranteed to fail – and so will America.

The Swamp’s Never-ending Playbook
Over the weekend, House and Senate Leadership cooked up a swamp “deal” to continue wasting taxpayer dollars on the Biden administration’s radical policy agenda. The spending bill contains no meaningful wins for the American people and gives away the leverage accomplished in the, already not great, spending bill from last summer. If House Republicans vote for this bill, it’s a vote for everything we campaigned against. The House holds the power of the purse – we should use this bill to force Biden to the table to fix at least one of the issues we said we’d fight for. Our border is on fire, our military is weakening, the American dream and way of life are dying, and Republicans' response is to continue rubber-stamping Democrat spending priorities. This institution is continuing business as usual – that’s why all House Republicans should reject this deal and finally secure a meaningful win for the American people.

Defense Secretary Austin Should Resign Immediately
Secretary Lloyd Austin failed to inform the White House, National Security Council, and Congress of his hospitalization over the weekend -- subsequently failing to fulfill his national security responsibilities as Secretary. His actions are indefensible and unacceptable. While he was incapacitated, his Deputy was on vacation, American service members came under attack on at least six occasions, and the Department of Defense conducted a strike against a high-level Iranian-backed militia member in Iraq triggering a report to Congress. This alarming chain of events makes it abundantly clear that Secretary Austin lacks the judgment and competence our service members and the American people deserve.
