The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is being described as hell on earth.
With more than 18,000 fatalities in Gaza, roughly 70% are women and children. Just take a look at these devastating statistics from the ground:
Damaged and inoperable hospitals, lack of fuel and health supplies, and dire hygienic conditions heighten risks for maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality — risks that will only be amplified with winter and cold temperatures arriving.
But you need to understand that even in the bleakest of crises, your emergency gifts are making a difference.
Your gifts have delivered:
- Dignity Kits to the more than 690,000 menstruating women and girls who have limited access to menstrual hygiene products
- Obstetric care to the 13,000 pregnant women who will give birth in the next 30 days
- Direct aid to survivors of violence and other vulnerable women and girls to manage their most essential needs
The continuity of these crucial sexual and reproductive health services — especially for the thousands of women who will give birth in the next month and whose movement is restricted — will only be possible with your continued support.
So, will you make an emergency gift to deliver lifesaving care to the women and girls who need it most?
UNFPA deeply regrets the end of the humanitarian pause in Gaza. We condemn the violence in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank, including all sexual violence against women, and echo the UN Secretary-General’s call for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire and for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas.
Thank you for being there for women and girls, today and every day.
