Congress avoids a partial government shutdown, for now.

Congress leaders reached a spending agreement to avoid a partial government shutdown and keep the government funded until the end of the fiscal year. 

The deal still needs to be finalized before the first funding deadline on Jan. 19.

Supreme Court to decide if Trump can be barred from ballot

The Supreme Court will fast-track a case over former President Donald Trump's eligibility for the 2024 presidential ballot. The case revolves around the Constitution's insurrection clause - 14th Amendment, Section 3 - which was originally enacted to keep former Confederates out of office.

SCOTUS has set a rapid schedule for the appeal, with arguments scheduled for Feb. 8.

The latest: Israel states plan to scale back offensive with few details

On Monday, an Israeli military chief spokesperson said the nation is going to scale back the widespread offensive in Palestine, vowing a changed tactic in southern Gaza. The statement came with few details, making it unclear whether Israel’s actions would be less dangerous for Gaza’s civilians.

The purpose of this bill is to fund the purchase of electric or zero-emission vehicles for the USPS fleet. The bill is currently under review by the House Committee on Oversight Reform.
