1) Biden Increased FY2023 Spending by a Trillion Dollars Over the Trump Baseline
Who’s more responsible for the debt? Trump or Biden? Here's a sobering comparison of what the numbers looked like for 2023 from Paul Winfree's new group EPIC:

The budget agreement that Speaker Johnson negotiated with the White House is far from perfect, and many of our conservative friends are angry, but it does cut nearly $80 billion from yet another bloated Biden budget proposal earlier this year. The man is addicted to debt spending.

2) Chart of the Day

What’s the old saying: yes, there are a lot of jobs out there and I have three of them.

In this latest jobs report that Biden is crowing about, more than half a million Americans left the labor market and the number of full-time private sector jobs fell. There were more second jobs created than first jobs. Thanks to Andy Puzder for the chart:

3) Unbelievable! Biden Wants Border States To Stop Blocking Illegal Immigrants From Streaming Across the Border

With more than 800,000 migrants attempting to cross the border in the last 100 days – the highest numbers ever recorded – and Biden essentially welcoming them in, states are taking their own urgent steps to do the job Biden won’t let the Federal Border Patrol do.

So now the Biden DOJ is instructing Border Patrol agents to cut barbed wire at the U.S. border with Mexico that Texas Governor Abbott put up to deter migrants. Biden’s Justice Department wants the Supreme Court to stop Texas from helping guard the border. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar claims only the federal government has "the power and duty to control and guard" the border – even though they aren’t even attempting to do it. Biden not only opposes a wall, he doesn’t even want a fence.

Even the progressives who run cities are fed up. They giddily applauded as over 560 sanctuary cities were declared in recent years, but now the mayors of many of them are screaming as a flood of migrants arrives on their doorstep. New York Mayor Eric Adams has announced he’s suing 17 bus companies from Texas for bringing 33,000 migrants to the city. He’s asking them to pay $708 million in damages for a failed policy that’s completely the federal government’s fault.

Mayor Adams sang a different tune only two years ago, “New York has been and will always be a city of immigrants that welcomes newcomers with open arms,” he proclaimed. “In New York City, we have both a moral — and legal — obligation to house anyone who is experiencing homelessness for any reason." Be careful what you wish for, Mayor. BTW, Adams’ approval rating is now below 30%.

4) Claudine Gay’s “Alleged” Plagiarism
It’s probably time to turn the page on the sordid story of recently fired Harvard president Claudine Gay. Except we find two things remarkable about the continuing news coverage. First, the media keeps obsessing that “conservative” sleuths were the ones who discovered her serial plagiarism.  So what!  Are the “investigative reporters” embarrassed that they were scooped on a story they never investigated themselves?

And since when is the whistleblower the bad guy, and the guilty party the victim?

Second, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and nearly every leftist publication are repeatedly referring to Claudine’s “alleged” plagiarism. Here’s a recent example:

So we looked up the Webster’s dictionary definition of “alleged,” and here are the three usages of the word:
  1. accused but not proven or convicted
  2. asserted to be true or to exist
  3. questionably true
Then we looked up the word plagiarism:

“Plagiarism is an act of fraud. It is defined as stealing and passing off the ideas or words of another as one's own, using another's production without crediting the source, committing literary theft, or presenting as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source.”

Any fair-minded person who has read any of the more than four dozen instances of Claudine Gay’s writings containing uncited passages that are nearly carbon copied from other sources, would have a very hard time disputing that they are textbook cases of “passing off the ideas of words as one’s own” and “without crediting the source.” No one would say that the plagiarism was only “questionably true” or “not proven.” It may have been carelessness. But it isn’t questionable.

Plagiarism isn’t a crime. It’s an ethical violation. And she was caught red-handed. Over. And Over. And over. Meanwhile, Claudine says she’s just a victim of racism and she “proudly stands behind her work.” She means someone else’s work.

5) Can You Say “Conflict of Interest?”
The story of Trump’s prosecution gets loonier all the time.

The district attorney overseeing the criminal case in Atlanta is allegedly sleeping with the man she appointed special prosecutor, which would mean the contract (about $1 million so far) that she awarded is funding her own vacations.

The allegations are detailed in a 127-page filing by Trump co-defendant (and renowned opposition researcher) Mike Roman:
