With Black History Month just around the corner, are you searching for quality educational resources for your students? Look no further than our Plainest Demands of Justice resource! It explores the effort to realize America’s Founding principles of liberty, equality, and justice through the lens of key periods in African-American history.

The resource features current and former historical figures whose goal was a greater realization of the principles outlined in the Declaration of Independence.

For easy access, we created specific playlists for each lesson: Lesson 1; Lesson 2; Lesson 3; Lesson 4; Lesson 5, Lesson 6.

The new year is here, so join BRI Senior Teaching Fellow Tony Williams for a brief refresher on some important topics courtesy of BRI’s Primary Source Essentials videos ! Williams offers a quick summary of important topics in American history, like the Federalist 10 and Federalist 51, Brutus 1, and how those subjects contribute to our understanding of government and civics. New videos will be added throughout this year, so don't forget to check back for more!

Get Students Signed Up For MyImpact Challenge!

There is still time for students to sign up for the Bill of Rights Institute’s MyImpact Challenge ! Each year, BRI hosts this national civic engagement contest for students to develop constitutionally-principled service projects that benefit their local communities.

Students can win up to $10,000 in prizes, and up to $40,000 in total prizes are available to students and teachers.

Meet Stephanie Pain!

Stephanie Pain’s journey to being a teacher began early. When she wasn’t competing in equestrian growing up, she was pretending to be a teacher in her own school.

Stephanie’s path took her to Judson College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in History, and Brenau University, where she obtained her Master of Arts in Secondary Education Social Sciences. Learn more about Stephanie's teaching journey.

Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed the holiday season with your family and friends. Here at the Bill of Rights Institute, we are looking at new ways to engage educators and their students in 2024. This spring, we will launch new resources for 3-5th grade educators and then in the fall a free, digital, modular Government & Politics textbook!

Sign-up to stay up-to-date for those notifications!

We also plan to unveil modular educator courses later this month, which include both content and pedagogy topics. The courses can be completed in any order and once you successfully finish a module, you will earn badges via the Accredible platform. Those are available for continuing education credit, per school or district requirements.

Lastly, don’t forget about our MyImpact Challenge! BRI’s national civics engagement contest is still accepting applications until May 19, 2024, and be on the lookout for MyImpact Challenge fairs in your local community later this year.
