Last week, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the Texas Supreme Court ruling that mothers in medical emergencies cannot receive life-saving abortions. Florida’s highest public health official cited vaccine misinformation and encouraged the state’s residents not to get vaccinated. And Nebraska’s governor rejected a policy from her legislature to provide $40 per month for food to low-income families with children.
In 302 days, the presidency, one-third of the U.S. Senate, and our entire House of Representatives will be up for election and reelection. In addition, governors in eleven states and legislatures, and local leaders across the country will also be running for election or reelection.
Leaders at every level of government impact our rights and experiences in our day-to-day lives. And we know what it's like when extreme Republicans are elected and hold our governments hostage, preventing real progress for our working families. We must maintain our focus and elect Democrats up and down the ballot in 2024.
