Dear John,
COVID-19 and our government’s failed response has drastically reshaped our lives for the immediate future, and likely for many months and years to come. Already, some of us have lost our jobs; some of us can’t pay rent. This health crisis harms trans people, and particularly those of us with disabilities and living with HIV, in uniquely stressful and isolating ways. Our trans family in prisons and detention are trapped during a global pandemic without adequate resources to be healthy.
It’s times like these that remind us how much we need each other. We’re only as strong as the connections among us. And that’s why we’ve launched a series of community calls, starting tomorrow at 2pm PT/4pm CT/5pm ET. You can RSVP to join those calls here.
This is our space to be with each other virtually, to voice our fears, to ask questions, and hear from those in our communities most impacted by the virus. This is how we can carry on with the strength and interdependence that our ancestors spent their lives cultivating. We offer you a message of hope: our people have always creatively found ways to thrive. Imagine each individual who is sharing your very fear right now. Then imagine how much power we have together.
We’ve built this movement from scratch, against all odds. We’ve gotten this far because of the infinite wisdom that each of us holds within us and within our lineage of ancestors. We’re in this together. This time will be defined by how we show up for each other. RSVP for our community gatherings today.
In solidarity, always,
Kris and the TLC team
