Extremist members of Congress are attacking our Social Security system―but they don’t want us to know it.
In his first address after winning the Speakership, Mike Johnson demanded that House Republicans fast-track a fiscal commission that would gut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid behind closed doors.
These extremists have already met twice to discuss legislation that would create Johnson’s commission.

John, this issue should not be up for debate. The American people clearly want Social Security expanded, not cut. That’s verified by polls showing 80% of the country wants Congress to protect both Social Security and Medicare.
The White House has rightly called this sort of commission a "death panel for Medicare and Social Security." That’s because the commission would allow Republicans to cut these critically important, and overwhelmingly popular, programs without members of Congress having to vote against them.
