Wes Moore for Maryland

John,

Wayne LaPierre just announced his retirement as the NRA’s leader.

My thoughts on this announcement? Good riddance.

Under LaPierre’s leadership, our country saw countless mass shootings and increased gun violence. As our communities suffered, LaPierre stood by and did nothing.

Instead, he litigated against common-sense gun reforms many states passed in response to the increasing violence. When I signed the Gun Safety Act of 2023 last legislative session, the NRA and a gun dealer sued our state moments after the ink was dry.

I will not be intimidated by the NRA. Maryland will not be intimidated by the NRA. We refuse to accept preventable gun deaths. We refuse to go backward.

As I head into this year’s legislative session, I will continue the fight for the safety of our communities. I will not stop advocating for common-sense reforms to save lives.

My message to the next leader of the NRA is simple: If you come for Maryland, we will fight back.

The safety and protection of all Marylanders will always be a top priority. Make a donation to our campaign today to help us show via the power of grassroots fundraising just how many people are with us in the fight for common-sense gun safety reforms.
