John,
It’s important to me to keep my supporters in the loop, so I wanted to share some updates about my work in Congress!
- I introduced a bipartisan bill, the Broadening Online Opportunities Through Simple Technologies (BOOST) Act, which would help make broadband internet access more affordable and accessible for rural communities. We must work to close the digital divide for rural communities because in the 21st century, internet isn’t a luxury — it’s a necessity.
- I announced that Leslie, Georgia is receiving $25,000 from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development for a new patrol vehicle. It’s critical that local emergency services have the resources they need to protect and serve their communities.
- I also announced that the Macon-Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council is receiving $4,278,717 through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Head Start grant program. These funds will go toward education, school readiness, and health and social services for low-income families to ensure they have the resources they need for their children to thrive and be set up for success.
