Social Security is on the ballot this year. And so are our Social Security champions.

Over a decade ago, when many Democrats were still open to cutting our Social Security benefits through closed-door commissions, Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) co-founded the Defend Social Security Caucus. But he didn’t stop there.

In 2018, Senator Brown co-founded the Expand Social Security Caucus.

Then, in 2021, as the new chair of the Senate Finance Committee’s Social Security Subcommittee, Senator Brown demanded the replacement of Donald Trump’s hand-picked Social Security Commissioner, Andrew Saul. President Biden has now replaced Saul with Social Security champion Martin O'Malley!

Now, Senator Brown is up for re-election and he’s in one of the tightest races in the country. Brown will likely be on the same general election ballot as Trump, who has won Brown’s home state of Ohio twice before.

The Ohio Senate race will determine control of the U.S. Senate, and with it, the future of Social Security.
