Dear John

I hope you’re doing okay.

We all wish you well during these unsettling times, however you’ve been affected by the coronavirus.

Being a grassroots network, people and communities are at the heart of all we do. So while we’ll continue to campaign against climate breakdown over the coming weeks and months, our top priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of our supporters, our groups, our volunteers and our staff, and of course the wider community too.

We’ve cancelled all our upcoming face-to-face events and have asked our groups to do the same. If you’ve booked tickets to any of them we’ll be in touch separately.

Staying connected is really important right now so our digital experts are looking into ways of running some alternative events online instead. I’ll be in touch with some dates soon – as well as other ideas for keeping busy.

As I said, we’ll keep on campaigning (me and my colleagues are lucky to be able to keep working from home) and we’ll need your help doing this. But as we all grapple with unfolding events, and the situation continues to change, the focus right now has to be on pulling together to support each other.

This situation is a reminder that we’re all part of one global community, and we need to co-operate to solve global problems. As with the climate crisis, we know that this is hitting the most vulnerable in our society the hardest and it’s more important than ever that we look out for each other, for everyone's benefit.

Finally, I know that many of you will be on the front line dealing with the crisis or know people who are. Our special thanks go to all of you, including health workers, carers, supermarket staff, lorry drivers, teachers, and so many others.

Look after yourself, look after each other, look after the planet. And thank you for your ongoing support.

Aleanna,
Supporter Relations Manager

PS. We are still here for your environmental concerns so please do keep in touch.
Take care
