The year is starting about as normal as you’d expect: former disgraced President Donald Trump is up to his eyeballs in litigation, and now he’s been disqualified from the ballot in Colorado and Maine! 33 states are challenging his candidacy for inciting the January 6th insurrection. Whatever comes from these rulings, we must be prepared for a significant boost in Republican spending by fighting back.

Republicans are raising millions for Trump’s campaign off of the lies used to incite the insurrection in the first place – and you can bet that they’re going to spend them on races we’re investing in. The DLGA has worked to elect the most diverse slate of Democratic lieutenant governors in history, and we have the opportunity to make major gains in 2024. Think about it this way – when Trump was booked at an Atlanta jail, his campaign raised over $7 Million just by emailing his mugshot around . We’re unsure if this works on Democrats, but we’ve included the mugshot here, just in case.

The point is we need to do everything we can to ensure we have the resources to combat the massive uptick in Republican spending that is underway. 2024 will be a long road to election day, and we need to start now if we’re going to help Democratic candidates win their races. With millions being spent to prop up a wannabe dictator, we must act decisively.
