Rio Grande LNG (liquid “natural” gas, or LNG) is a proposed methane gas export terminal slated for Brownsville, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley. This project epitomizes environmental racism, threatening the health of communities, Indigenous rights, and our climate, all while the profits are reaped by corporations, leaving the local communities to bear the burden of environmental degradation.

Despite years of community resistance by the Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribe of Texas, local residents, and allied organizations, Rio Grande LNG will advance unless we act now. Chubb, Liberty Mutual, and Sompo have the power and responsibility to listen to Indigenous and impacted communities by refusing to insure the project and all methane expansion.

We must demand meaningful climate solutions and an immediate stop to projects that jeopardize our planet and its people–that includes demanding insurance companies stop supporting the Rio Grande LNG project.
