[ [link removed] ]Welch for Vermont
Hi There,
As we look ahead to the opportunity of 2024, it’s important that we
reflect on last year to help us chart our course for this year.
2023 was a strong year for our economy, even stronger than we expected.
Check out the chart below that shows that our economy grew at an even
faster rate than expected.
This didn’t happen by accident. Our economy is growing so quickly because
Democrats and President Biden have been investing in the middle-class, not
the top 1%.
We worked alongside Republicans to finally pass a sweeping infrastructure
bill to fix America’s roads and bridges while putting people to work. With
our slim majorities, Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act, the
largest climate package in history. The law is already dispersing funding
to projects in Vermont and throughout the country that will invest in
green technologies to save folks money and lower our emissions.
But we still have a lot of work to do.
We’ve made progress, but there are still lots of people hurting around the
country. Lingering high prices always hit those with the least amount of
resources the hardest, and serious income inequality remains. We have to
continue investing in the middle-class to help those struggling to make
ends meet.
The progress we’ve made can only be built on by electing Democrats up and
down the ballot. As we enter another election year, it’s important to
remember that as we work toward winning majorities in Congress, keeping
control of the White House, and electing Democrats in local elections.
Thanks,
Peter
