Dear John,
As you know, a global pandemic is impacting all of us around the world. It’s an unsettling time filled with concerns, challenges and anxieties.
As an international organization, we know this pandemic reveals the interconnectedness of our world in a very personal way. We also know that during trying times like these, the best of humanity can rise.
This is a time when we have the opportunity to help end demonization and anger — and decisively replace it with empathy and kindness. And while people may need to be physically distant at the moment, we remain united.
I’d like to reassure you that Amnesty International continues to take our role as a watchdog for human rights very seriously. We are working to advocate that all governments ensure that human rights are at the center of their responses to the outbreak.
We are also ramping up our rapid response efforts to advocate for vulnerable people — including people seeking safety in the U.S. All people should have the same access to care and safety — and immigrants and asylum-seekers at our border must not be treated as an afterthought!
If you feel inspired to support our work with an emergency donation during this unprecedented time, please consider doing so online. It’s a convenient and impactful way to stand up for human rights — and help humanity weather this storm. Thank you.
We will continue to keep you updated on our response in the weeks and months ahead.
In solidarity,
|
