Last week the World Health Organization declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak a global pandemic. Here in the United States, our systems are at high alert, with policies and procedures in place to protect families and slow the spread of the virus.
But in places like Burkina Faso and the Democratic Republic of Congo, families don’t have those safeguards. And yet coronavirus has landed at their doors. Health systems are not prepared to take on an outbreak. Health workers are vulnerable to infection as they work to treat others. And families, who already suffer with poor health, poverty, and hunger, are at extreme risk.
Families need your love to see them through this crisis.
Here is what your compassion can do right now:
- Get hospitals the information and supplies needed to treat patients.
- Provide health workers the protective equipment they need to stay healthy.
- Make sure the most accurate information is reaching communities and families so they know about the coronavirus and what to do to stay safe.
With your love fueling us, we will do all these things and more. But our resources are stretched painfully thin.
We urgently need to raise $250,000 to fuel this response.
Families are counting on you.
We must not delay. Each moment that goes by, we lose the opportunity to get ahead of the coronavirus and protect vulnerable families.
