Hello,
Right now, food banks, pantries, and soup kitchens are struggling to continue their mission of feeding the hungry in a time when they are most needed.
As we continue to work to contain the spread of the coronavirus by taking preventative measures and practicing social distancing, many who rely on community programs for food are being further put at risk in the upheaval.
What's more: the closing of schools, widespread supplier shortages, as well as a decrease in volunteering and donations are compounding the challenges of groups who prevent hunger.
I realize now is a time when we are all worried for ourselves and our loved ones. But I also know we each care about helping our neighbors and community members, too.
So, can you please chip in whatever you can afford to Feeding America to help support local food banks across the country during this critical time?
As a part of the
Families First Coronavirus Response Act, Congress is working to send $500 million to WIC programs that help provide nutritious foods to low-income pregnant women or mothers with young children who lose their jobs or are laid off due to the COVID-19 crisis.
The act also allocates $400 million to assist local food banks to help meet increased demand during this emergency.
In a crisis like this, we must all continue to practice compassion and understanding. We must tap into the human connection, grounded in our shared capacity to love one another and help those who need it the most.
Feeding America is a nonprofit organization of more than 200 food banks that work to feed over 40 million people through community-based charity. And right now, they need our help to continue their work and make sure that this pandemic is not compounded with a hunger crisis.
Will you please answer this call to action and help those in need by making a donation to Feeding America's COVID-19 Response Fund and support local food banks?
With love,
Antonio Delgado
