Read this today Friend? ? ? Friend ? since we reached out yesterday, LCV members from all over the country have pitched in to support this campaign, making gifts of all sizes. Many are donating for the first time ? and many are starting monthly contributions.

This campaign is working. There's been a huge backlash over the idea of bailing out the oil industry in the coronavirus relief bill ? environmental lawmakers in Congress have been speaking out about it all week.

As the Senate barrels toward a vote on the bill, we're reaching out for your help. A donor is still triple-matching every contribution through the end of the month ? right now is the best opportunity to support the environment amid this public health crisis.

Please, triple your impact. Donate today, even $5 helps ? [link removed]

Thank you, friend. I hope you're staying safe and healthy. As the country takes extraordinary steps to get this virus under control, we'll continue to be in touch with ways you can (safely!) make a difference for the environment.

Gene Karpinski ? ? ? ? ? This story is still developing? the House has overwhelmingly passed a clean coronavirus relief bill that includes paid sick leave, free coronavirus testing, and unemployment insurance ? without Trump's bailout for the oil industry.

Mitch McConnell is expected to hold a Senate vote this week. Negotiations in the Republican-controlled Senate are expected to get rough. Getting a clean relief bill through is anything but certain.

We need the environmental movement ? and everyone who stands for science and public health ? to be ready to raise hell if the oil bailout is put back on the table. That means organizing (digitally!) ? calling House and Senate offices ? and being ready to hold lawmakers accountable for their votes.

The best thing you can do to help right now is to make an emergency contribution to fund our digital efforts. A donor has agreed to triple-match every contribution to LCV through the end of the month.

Please, donate today, friend. Whatever you can afford will make a huge difference right now, even if it's just $5 ? [link removed]

As coronavirus spreads and communities set up quarantines, we all have a role to play in trying to lessen the impacts of the pandemic.

Last week we closed our offices and set up all staff to work remotely. LCV has canceled all travel for the time being and are turning in-person events into virtual gatherings. We are encouraging our staff and communities to practice social distancing because we know the actions we take today will help keep people safe and healthy now and in the weeks and months to come.

With that said, we cannot stop or even take a short pause in our fight for the planet. If anything, this pandemic shows what happens when science and the experts are ignored and the institutions we rely on to protect us are weakened.

We can't let Trump use this moment as an excuse to siphon off more money to the oil industry ? but we have to move quickly.

I want you to know: This is a fight we can win, but it's not the only one we're up against right now. Your support matters SO, so much ? here are a few more reasons why: Because a federal judge just voided nearly 1 million acres of oil and gas leases, ruling that a Trump administration policy to cut public input out of the leasing process was illegal. There's now a massive fight underway to resecure that land for drilling ? and we're campaigning to stop it. We need you on board. Donate to LCV today ? [link removed] Because the Trump administration is trying to gut the National Environmental Policy Act. That would mean agencies would no longer consider climate change when approving major projects like highways, pipelines, and other infrastructure proposals, and they could ignore public input. We're making a final urgent push to block the new rule, but we have to move quickly if we have any chance at all. You can help. Make a donation to the League of Conservation Voters today ? [link removed] Because the Trump administration is about to sell access to the area around the Grand Canyon to allow uranium mining. The Grand Canyon has been home to Indigenous communities, including the Havasupai, Hualapai, Hopi, and Navajo Nation communities, for millennia. Congress is pushing to block the sale, but we need major grassroots pressure if we have any chance of succeeding. Please ? make a donation today. Even $5 can make a huge difference ? [link removed] Because the 2020 race is in full swing, and we need the environmental movement to be pushing ? HARD. Through our Change the Climate 2020 campaign, we're pushing presidential candidates to commit to serious plans to fight climate change, including their ideas to invest in communities that are hit hardest by its effects. The only way that happens is if the environmental movement mobilizes in a major way. We need YOUR help ? [link removed] Because even after Trump pulled the United States from the Paris Agreement, there's still a real shot at holding ourselves to the commitments we made as a country. After aggressive grassroots campaigns, state and local governments are setting their own emissions limits. This is stuff that doesn't always make front page news ? but it's huge, and it only happens when the environmental movement demands it. Friend ? your donation keeps this work going ? [link removed] Bottom line ? we cannot afford to go dark right now, but we need your help to keep going in every one of these fights. Thank you so much for your support. We couldn't do this work without you.
