It's been another busy week in TX-23 and D.C. I am proud to serve our district in Congress. Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. From helping you navigate federal casework to advocating for your priorities, my team and I are always here to help. Please read below for some updates on my recent work representing you in Washington, D.C. and back home in TX-23.

Showing up Matters: Hosting Speaker Johnson at the Southern Border

This week, Speaker Johnson and I hosted over 60 members of Congress in San Antonio and Eagle Pass to see firsthand the impact of Biden's border crisis.

I'm working with my colleagues in the House and the Senate to shape policy solutions that address this crisis head-on. Passing a national security package that strengthens our homeland security and keeps Americans safe is priority number one.

Roundtable With Local Officials

While in Eagle Pass, I hosted a roundtable where we heard directly from sheriffs, law enforcement officers and local officials who work around the clock to protect our border communities.

We appreciate their unwavering commitment to our safety and thank them for taking the time to discuss how we can better support them.

Eagle Pass Border Patrol Briefing

We also visited the migrant processing facility in Eagle Pass for a briefing with Border Patrol. This facility holds 1,000 people and yet has consistently housed four to five times that amount. This overflow is unsustainable and policy changes need to be made immediately.

All Hands on Deck

Solving our border crisis cannot be a one-sided issue it requires consensus and partnerships. A day after hosting House Republicans in Eagle Pass, I hosted Rep. Don Davis (D-N.C.) for a meeting with Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas, Uvalde Mayor Cody Smith, and emergency management personnel on the frontlines.

Our roots as veterans bring us together — we’re ready to work together and tackle our nation’s toughest challenges, like the ones at our southern border. It will take bold leadership from both sides of Congress to get the job done.
