Dear Friends,
As we begin 2024, I am keen to share with you: African Enterprise – who we are, what drives us and why we do what we do.
African Enterprise is an evangelical mission agency, driven by a long-standing mission: “evangelising the cities of Africa in Word and Deed in partnership with the church”. We are unique in that we are an indigenous African led ministry who equip the local church for mission to reach their cities and communities with the gospel; and work hard to bring unity across many denominations.
As indigenous Africans, our staff and volunteers live in our communities, know the culture and language, understand the local needs and challenges. After 60 years of gospel proclamation in 12 countries of Africa, under God we are well placed to effectively proclaim the gospel to people living in the cities of Africa.
Africa is the fasting growing continent – by 2050, projections show that 25% of the world’s population will be African. Africa currently has the youngest population in the world, with 70% of sub-Saharan Africa under the age of 30. Africa is the only continent predominantly open to evangelism. We do not know how long this gospel freedom will last.
African Enterprise is thoroughly committed to the work of evangelism. We want to see people hearing the gospel clearly explained and turning to Jesus. The heart of our message is Jesus Christ and his sacrificial work on the cross. Jesus died for our sins. Those who hear his good news must turn to him in faith, repentance and obedience.
African Enterprise pioneered stratified evangelism which is an approach that takes the gospel to where people are in a well-planned annual mission. Stratified evangelism takes 12-18 months of prayer and planning and the bringing together of like-minded churches, to train, disciple and resource. The prayer and planning culminates in a 1-week mission blitz of the city with hundreds of local Christians reaching the homeless, prostitutes, prisoners, people in hospital, school and university students, informal traders, business professionals, doctors, police, correctional officers, armed forces, right through to elected government officials including the president. Everyone has an opportunity to hear the gospel contextualised where they are either in a personal 1 to 1 conversation or a presentation in a formal setting (young professionals leadership forum, national students event, doctors dinner, national parliamentary prayer breakfast etc). It really is quite incredible!
God Bless,
