Radical right wing extremists are pushing for purging the voter rolls across the country. They're trying to silence minority communities and younger voters, key voting blocs for Democrats, in order to swing the vote in their favor ahead of the 2024 presidential election. These extremists have been working with Republican-led state legislatures and unfortunately, they’ve already succeeded in purging the names of millions of eligible voters from state rolls, including in Georgia, Virginia, Washington state, and Michigan, among others.
We’ve got to take action now. The silencing of eligible, registered voters is utterly draconian and unconstitutional. Attempts to undermine the importance of voting and the sanctity of our American democracy cannot be tolerated.

Since 2020, various states removed more than 19 million eligible, registered voters from these rolls. Typically, these purges are based on the individual's “inactivity.” Thousands of people are also inaccurately labeled as felons or their citizenship status is incorrectly recorded. These voter purges often result in the erroneous removal of eligible voters and contribute to the plague of voter suppression that’s sweeping across the country.
It’s undemocratic. We demand that the Department of Justice intervene and ensure the preservation of our voting rights. These voter purges disenfranchise eligible voters, especially those in protected classes, and undermine public confidence in our electoral system.
