FL-27 Newsletter Vol. 118, Issue #46 Dear Friends/Amigos, I hope you and your loved ones had a very happy New Year! I wanted to start off 2024 strong by meeting with you, my constituents in District 27, to hear more about the issues on your mind. I took some time last week to visit Cutler Bay, Palmetto Bay, and Pinecrest to discuss their priorities and how I can help achieve them in Congress. Visiting my constituents and talking with local leaders is one my favorite parts of the job, and I thank God every day that I get to represent our vibrant community in Washington, D.C. I also wanted to let you know that my office will be holding two webinars in English and Spanish with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) later this month for help with tax season this year! Sincerely/Atentamente, María Elvira Salazar U.S. Representative (FL-27) HEARING FROM CONSTITUENTS IN DISTRICT 27! Last week, I met with the Mayors of Cutler Bay, Palmetto Bay, and Pinecrest to discuss how we can build on the progress I've made in Washington to improve the lives of my constituents on everything from small business issues to local funding projects. In 2023, I was able to secure millions for local infrastructure and economic development for District 27. I look forward to working with our communities and local leaders to ensure I am able to do the same this year! Since then, the Ortegas have incarcerated even more Catholic leaders, including the Bishop of Siuna Isidoro Mora. I denounced this ungodly trend in Congress, and I join the Catholic community of Nicaragua in praying for the end of their persecution by the socialists. The Catholic Church has outlived tyrants before, it will surely outlive the Ortegas. Read my full statement in English and Spanish.
