As you may be aware, more and more children are entering the U.S. without an adult – or unfortunately, are separated from their parents when they arrive.

These children have fled violence and fear in their home countries and have journeyed thousands of miles to the U.S. They arrive scared, hungry, and exhausted – yet they are hopeful. They want to go to school, to be with their families, to begin a life of promise and dignity. USCRI is there to help.

We ensure that children are reunited with their family members in the U.S. as quickly as possible. With our assistance, parents and guardians learn how to enroll children in school, take kids to the doctor, find mental health counseling, and help children overcome the trauma of traveling to the U.S. and separation from their loved ones.

In early 2019, 17-year old Manuela* was reunited with her mother in Raleigh, NC after a year apart. Her USCRI case manager James* helped Manuela register for school, connect with an immigration attorney, and begin to settle into her new community. Manuela and her mother are excited to be together again, beginning a new life here in the U.S. And USCRI will be there every step of the way to make sure she is safe, happy, and healthy.

Over the past 15 years, we have helped 9,000 children reconnect with their families and adjust to life in the United States. In the upcoming year, we anticipate serving more kids than ever, as the need continues to increase.

Faced with the increasing numbers of unaccompanied child migrants entering the U.S., USCRI opened a children’s residential care facility in June 2019. Whatever the circumstances of their entry into the U.S., we are committed to providing these kids with safe, comfortable, loving care until they are reunited with their families.

We are beside these kids the whole way. We are their allies, their advocates, and their biggest cheerleaders.

Next week, learn about our new program in Central America designed to prevent migration by providing opportunities at home.
