place for hours as rioters breached the Capitol to try and overturn the
2020 election results.

GOP leadership have since worked overtime to downplay the scale and
violence of the insurrection, spreading lies about who was responsible for
the attack.

It’s our responsibility to set the record straight. The global rise of
fascism hinges on disinformation and the erosion of trust in our
democratic processes.

Trump and other top Republicans are trafficking in outrageous conspiracy
theories to avoid accountability for January 6. Because of their lies 25%
of Americans, and 34% of Republicans, now believe that the January 6th
riot was an FBI set-up.^1

But Alexandria will not stop fighting for accountability for those who
incited the riot because we are not safe from fascism when people who hold
positions of power are willing to endanger the lives of others to score
political points.
